Georgia Sports Betting
With plenty of states in need of revenue after the last year in a pandemic, some are beginning to turn to the income that mobile sports betting would bring. The Georgia committee passed legislation to legalize sports betting in the state of Georgia. The bill would allow operators like BetMGM to operate within the Georgia state lines. Georgia is pushing heavily for hefty fees on operators with a $50,000 application fee and a licensing fee that could be up to $900,000 a year. It will now need to be passed at the senate, as it requires a 2/3 vote to be signed into law. With the state in a dire financial situation, many are expecting the bill to be passed.
